Hundreds of al-Qaeda militants are planning terror attacks from Yemen, the country’s Foreign Minister said today.

Abu Bakr al-Qirbi appealed for more help from the international community to help to train and equip counter-terrorist forces.  His plea came after an al-Qaeda group based in Yemen claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas Day airliner bomb plot.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, alleged to be behind the attempt to blow up an American-bound aircraft, spent time in Yemen with al-Qaeda and was in the country only days before the failed attack.

“They may actually plan attacks like the one we have just had in Detroit. There are maybe hundreds of them — 200, 300.”

Dr al-Qirbi said it was the “responsibility” of countries with strong intelligence capabilities to warn states such as Yemen about the movements of terror suspects.  The United States, Britain and the European Union could do a lot to improve Yemen’s response to militants on its own soil, he added.

“We have to work in a very joint fashion in partnership to combat terrorism,” he said. “If we do, the problem will be brought under control.

“There is support, but I must say it is inadequate. We need more training, we have to expand our counter-terrorism units and provide them with equipment and transportation like helicopters.”

Mr Abdulmutallab is said to have told US agents that there were more people “just like him” ready to carry out attacks.

The theory behind being politically correct, is to reduce the hate that exist in the world.  By reducing hate words, it is hoped that tension would be reduced and there would be less violence on the planet.  The problem with the theory is that the person speaking the words and the person listening to the words really want to eliminate the hate.  So far, the Islamic terrorist do not appear to want to stop hating.  After all, they have had more than 1000 years of practice. So, while Americans are punished by the thought police for speaking the truth, our sworn enemies are plotting new ways to kill us and take down every western nation.  Or should I say, every Christian Nation….of course not that would be politically incorrect.

If Yemen really wants to rid themselves of terrorist, then they should declare war on them and make their actions illegal.  Again, it takes both parties to really want to make a change and stop the hate.  In Yemen’s case neither party really wants to change.  This is just an attempt to extort money from our treasury.

I have no hope that our bowing, Muslim educated, apologizing, Nobel Peace Prize wining president will ever actually do anything about the Nation of Islam.  For whatever reason, he along with most of Congress refuse to speak the truth and ignore the obvious.  Until our enemies and their hate filled mosques are destroyed, the American Public will never be safe. 

We the people need to make a decision; we either withdraw our troops from all foreign soil, drop our support of Israel, and be held hostage by Islam or we need to speak the truth and fight the until we are free from this threat.

I for one vote for fighting for my freedom.  My first strike in the war will be to work to  remove every liberty hating liberal from office and restore our constitution.

Speaking from Kaneohe, Hawaii where he is vacationing with his family, Obama assures America that catching the group behind the attempted in-flight bomb detonation on Northwest Airlines flight 253 is his first priority.

“A full investigation has been launched into this attempted act of terrorism and we will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable,”

“This was a serious reminder of the dangers that we face and the nature of those who threaten our homeland,” he said.

Still not acknowledging that the terrorist are driven by a religious ideology, Obama chooses to address it geographically.

“We will continue to use every element of our national power to disrupt, to dismantle and defeat the violent extremists who threaten us — whether they are from Afghanistan or Pakistan, Yemen or Somalia or anywhere where they are plotting attacks against the US homeland.”

Unfortunately Mr. Obama, this terrorist was from none of those places.  Again, Obama  fails to link the terrorist with the true source of Terrorism, Islam.  Love or hate George Bush, at least he understood who the enemies of the American public were.

WASHINGTON — Key congressional negotiators adopted a plan Wednesday to permit terror suspects held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to continue to be transferred into the United States to face trial, boosting President Barack Obama’s bid to close the prison.

The House-Senate compromise was reached by Democratic negotiators on a $42.8 billion homeland security appropriations bill. It mostly tracks current restrictions put in place in June and is similar to a version backed by Republicans earlier in the year that allowed detainees to be transferred to U.S. soil for trial.

Now, Republicans are pressing for an absolute ban on transfers of Guantanamo detainees into the U.S.

The move sets up a clash with Republicans and, potentially, a difficult vote for dozens of House Democrats, who only last week voted in favor of a GOP plan to block any detainee transfers into the U.S. That vote came on a nonbinding motion, but Wednesday’s compromise would carry the force of law for the budget year that began Oct. 1.

Obama’s order to close Guantanamo by mid-January has vexed his Democratic allies on Capitol Hill, who complain that it was dropped on them without a plan to carry it out.

Republicans have been enthusiastic in their opposition to the plan and clearly feel that public opinion and the politics of Guantanamo are working in their favor. However, prominent members of the party, including last fall’s presidential nominee, Sen. John McCain, want to see the facility closed as well. At a House Appropriations Committee session in June, the panel’s top Republican, Jerry Lewis of California, sought to ensure that detainees could be brought to the U.S. for prosecution.

To both political parties that are trying to use this to make political gain I say stop. Stop trying to sneak it through on an defense appropriations bill and stop trying to point fingers.

The American Public does not want them here. I am pretty sure that you could ask any American Citizen and they would tell you they do not want them located within their, city, their county or their state

I am all for conducting a trial…..conduct it in Cuba. If they are found not guilty then ship them back to their home country. DO NOT relocate them to the US.

The FBI, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department met Tuesday to compare notes on an unidentified flying object reported late last week by an ExpressJet Airlines pilot.

The pilot reported a “missile or rocket” flying near his airplane Friday at 8:09 p.m., shortly after takeoff from Bush Intercontinental Airport, according to sheriff’s officials.

“The FAA then contacted the Liberty County department dispatcher and reported their pilot reported an object flying straight at his aircraft and passed 100 feet under it,” said Ken DeFoor, chief deputy for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department.

FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap said the agency was aware of the sighting.

“While we have no information to indicate there was a criminal act we certainly do not rule anything out and certainly would not want to speculate on what it may or may not have been,” she said.

The flight was over the southern edge of Liberty County flying at 13,000 feet when the incident occurred, officials said. ExpressJet flies regional routes for Continental Airlines as Continental Express.

“We haven’t found anything yet — either something on the ground where it launched or on the ground where it came down,” said Liberty County Sheriff’s Cpl. Hugh Bishop.

DeFoor said the agencies consolidated their notes and information at the meeting.

“The FAA is in the process of debriefing the pilot today (Tuesday),” he said. “We are going to try and come up with a more definite track of this object and its path. We are trying to find out where it came from, where it went, and who may be responsible for it.”

The Continental Express jet was on a commercial flight to Greenville, S.C.

“No people were injured and no evasive action on part of the airplane was taken,” DeFoor said.

DeFoor said he was aware of local hobbyists who fire rockets but did not know if any were in the area at the time.

“We’re checking with club owners and presidents,” he said. “If we can get a correct track of what this object was there is no need to check with hobby fields.”

DeFoor said if the object was a rocket, it was fired illegally.

“They have to have permits to use the airspace,” he said.

In May 2008, a Continental Airlines pilot reported a similar incident.
