Rep. Steve King: Bauer was hired to ‘erase tracks’ between Obama, ACORN
Friday, November 13th, 2009Newly appointed White House counsel Bob Bauer is “perfectly positioned to be tasked with erasing the tracks between Obama and ACORN,” one Republican lawmaker charged Friday.
The lawyer’s hiring, announced this morning shortly after Greg Craig officially resigned the post, was also an attempt by the White House to deflect any fallout that may arise from an ACORN investigation currently underway in Louisiana, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) added in a statement.
“Bob Bauer has a public record of defending Barack Obama’s relationship with ACORN, the congressman told supporters. “Bauer’s hiring appears to be a tactical maneuver to strategically defend the White House exactly one week after Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell raided ACORN’s national headquarters in New Orleans and seized paper records and computer hard drives that may lead to the White House.”
However, the link between Bauer, the president and ACORN’s Louisiana office is long, winding and confusing, at best.
According to King, Bauer — who worked for Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign — was they key player in a politicized fight between the campaign and President George W. Bush’s Justice Department over an investigation of suspected ACORN voting fraud.
While Bauer, for the most part, signaled in a letter he was unconvinced that ACORN had committed any wrongdoing, he compared the investigation itself to the partisan battle over the firing of a number of U.S. attorneys in 2008 because of their political inclinations. Consequently, he asked the Justice Department shortly after to appoint the same special prosecutor who made the attorney determination to look into the ACORN matter.
“With this voter fraud [investigation], we’re seeing an unholy alliance of law enforcement and the ugliest form of partisan politics,” Bauer said in October.

Obama says he is in favor of having ACORN investigated….or does he?
Sunday, September 20th, 2009The original title from the AP was this:
Obama favors investigation into ACORN’s activities, that is so misleading and untrue. Below is the story.
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says there should be an investigation into the hidden-camera video involving employees at the activist group ACORN and a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp.
The two ACORN workers are seen apparently advising the couple to lie about her profession and launder her earnings to get housing aid.
The video is only the latest problem for the group, which had nearly $1 million embezzled by its founder’s brother and has been accused of voter registration fraud. The House and Senate voted last week to deny
federal funds to ACORN.
Obama told ABC’s “This Week” in an interview broadcast Sunday that what he saw on the video “was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.” But the president did not say who should investigate. And he said it is not a major national issue he pays much attention to.
“Frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely,” Obama said. “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.”

Give me a break, no where does he say that they are “going to be investigated”. He only says that the video incident should be investigated. Then his next statement blows me away, “Frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely,” Obama said. “I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money. What a liar, he used to work for one of their organization. If you didn’t already, you now
know for sure, ABC, is a government propaganda machine. Mickey Mouse has become a communist. (Disney owns ABC)
As a politician, (and a dirty one) Obama is going to protect the people that helped him get elected, ACORN. So, he will say and do way he thinks you, the American Public, want to hear and then, he will do nothing. It is just like his views on health care for Illegal aliens. He says he does not support it. Well, if he makes them all citizens, problem solved and the American Tax Payer, (YOU) gets whacked again.
I am not just against Obama, ACORN and the socialist left leaning Democratic leadership. I am against anyone or any organization that tries to move us away from a constitutional government and circumvent our laws. Our freedom is under attack and ACORN is the lead pipe Obama, Democrats and the liberal left have been beating us with.

Friday, September 18th, 2009From the Wall Street Journal – Senate Acts to Deny Acorn Aid
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009By COREY BOLES
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly Monday to prevent Acorn, an umbrella group of community organizers, from being able to bid for federal grant money.
The 83-7 vote came as Acorn — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — has been in the spotlight for hidden-camera videos in which Acorn employees give tax advice to a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp. Prosecutors in Florida last week issued warrants for several Acorn employees on allegations they falsified voter-registration records last year, and on Friday, the Census Bureau severed ties with the organization as it prepares for the 2010 count.
A spokesman for Acorn didn’t return an email seeking comment on the vote. Earlier, a spokesman said Acorn would have no comment until the Senate acted.

I just wish these guys would go away. But like most illegal money making operations if the name ACORN disappears don’t assume it is dead. It will just raise it’s head with a new improved name. Like, Americorp or one of my favorites St. Hope. Remember St. Hope and the poor Inspector General that was fired because he reported wrong doing? That is more of what we can expect for organizations like ACORN. Don’t expect them to go away. But do expect them to have a much better name the second time around.
