From the Wall Street Journal – Senate Acts to Deny Acorn Aid

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

By COREY BOLES

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly Monday to prevent Acorn, an umbrella group of community organizers, from being able to bid for federal grant money.

The 83-7 vote came as Acorn — the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now — has been in the spotlight for hidden-camera videos in which Acorn employees give tax advice to a couple posing as a prostitute and her pimp. Prosecutors in Florida last week issued warrants for several Acorn employees on allegations they falsified voter-registration records last year, and on Friday, the Census Bureau severed ties with the organization as it prepares for the 2010 count.

A spokesman for Acorn didn’t return an email seeking comment on the vote. Earlier, a spokesman said Acorn would have no comment until the Senate acted.

I just wish these guys would go away.  But like most illegal money making operations if the name ACORN disappears don’t assume it is dead.  It will just raise it’s head with a new improved name.  Like, Americorp or one of my favorites St. Hope.  Remember St. Hope and the poor Inspector General that was fired because he reported wrong doing?  That is more of what we can expect for organizations like ACORN.  Don’t expect them to go away.  But do expect them to have a much better name the second time around.

Obama Controls ABC and NBC, How?

Friday, August 28th, 2009

The refusal by ABC and NBC to run a national ad critical of President Obama’s health care reform plan is raising questions from the group behind the spot — particularly in light of ABC’s health care special aired in prime time last June and hosted at the White House.

The 33-second ad by the League of American Voters, which features a neurosurgeon who warns that a government-run health care system will lead to the rationing of procedures and medicine, began airing two weeks ago on local affiliates of ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS. On a national level, however, ABC and NBC have refused to run the spot in its present form.

Face Fwd Comments:

I bet Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave or a least his animatronic body is.  Of course the media is in Obama’s pocket or they wouldn’t be treating the greatest american grass roots movement since the Viet Nam War protest (the Tea Parties), with all of the disdain that they have shown.  I understand NBC’s push……they have a huge investment with the GE Medical Division and of course their wind turbine division.  So they have to support the Obama administration to make sure their companies will make money. Some might say that in some perverted sort of way they would be practicing capitalism.  Actually, it is much closer to socialism where the line between the business practice and the government policy becomes blurred.  And in GM’s case completely erased.  Oh and by the way, wouldn’t all of the GM workers now be considered government workers?

Back to the networks…..I understand the NBC/GE connection and begrudgingly marvel, respect, and  admire how they have managed to get a complete integration between what they produce and the government’s policies.  ABC is the one I struggle with.  A government takeover of Disney Land?  More than likely not.  What I suspect is that Disney has been loosing money for years and was near the end of their ability to restructure their debt.  I believe that the Obama administration arranged for either a huge amount of their debt to be forgiven or at the very least, terms created that would be very favorable to ensure a profitable Disney corp.  You might say, Mickey sold his soul  to remain relevant.

The Obama administration now has three very strong government controlled media sources.  Viacom, GE/NBC and ABC/Disney are all producing pro Obama/socialist pieces and anti conservative thought pieces.  Not only do they control a majority of the televised broadcast media but they are also trying to shut down any voice of opposition.  With the war on talk radio being launched against Glenn Beck, the push to control radio programming and the first steps towards political censorship on the Internet, this administration waging a war on free thought.

I am very disturbed by the American Media being turned against the people and you should be as well.  You need to contact your senator and represenative and let them know you want the media in the US to ran by people in the broadcast business not government.  If we do not act now, our children will grow up with their minds filled with government propaganda.  We need to return to a free press in this country.  The question I am asking myself and you should be as well is, “How do we do it”?

ACORN…. not just a nut A Government Funded Nut

ACORN to Play Role in 2010 Census
The U.S. Census Bureau is working with several national organizations to help recruit 1.4 million workers to produce the country’s 2010 census, including one with a history of voter fraud charges: ACORN.

The U.S. Census is supposed to be free of politics, but one group with a history of voter fraud, ACORN, is participating in next year’s count, raising concerns about the politicization of the decennial survey.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now signed on as a national partner with the U.S. Census Bureau in February 2009 to assist with the recruitment of the 1.4 million temporary workers needed to go door-to-door to count every person in the United States — currently believed to be more than 306 million people.

A U.S. Census “sell sheet,” an advertisement used to recruit national partners, says partnerships with groups like ACORN “play an important role in making the 2010 Census successful,” including by “help[ing] recruit census workers.”

The bureau is currently employing help from more than 250 national partners, including TARGET and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), to assist in the hiring effort.

But ACORN’s partnership with the 2010 Census is worrisome to lawmakers who say past allegations of fraud should raise concerns about the organization.

“It’s a concern, especially when you look at all the different charges of voter fraud. And it’s not just the lawmakers’ concern. It should be the concern of every citizen in the country,” Rep. Lynn A. Westmoreland, R-Ga., vice ranking member of the subcommittee for the U.S. Census, told FOXNews.com. “We want an enumeration. We don’t want to have any false numbers.

ACORN, which claims to be a non-partisan grassroots community organization of low- and moderate-income people, came under fire in 2007 when Washington State filed felony charges against several paid ACORN employees and supervisors for more than 1,700 fraudulent voter registrations. In March 2008, an ACORN worker in Pennsylvania was sentenced for making 29 phony voter registration forms. The group’s activities were frequently questioned in the 2008 presidential election.

ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson told FOXNews.com that “ACORN as an organization has not been charged with any crime.” He added that fears that the organization will unfairly influence the census are unfounded.

Face Forward Comments:
Why is this headline so important?  No, it’s not, “At least if the government is going to pay them, they should work”!  It is that whoever controls the census controls the way voting districts are going to be drawn up for at least the next 10 years.  Read that as; what the make up of the Senate and House will look like.

When the districts in Texas and other states were redrawn to reflect the republican view of districts (gerrymandering) the Democrats were screaming like the wounded.  However, the redrawn districts stood and the courts upheld the new district shapes.

The Dems don’t want that to happen again so guess what?   If you control the make up population size and shapes in certain urban/suburban sprawl areas and you control (for the most part) Congress, you can redraw the shapes of the districts giving yourself more liberal representatives. They will succeed in making it impossible for a conservative to win in any new district they draw.  Please note I said Conservative , not Republican.  We are still looking for a real Conservative Republican that will stand up for hisor her valuse not the latest popularity poll.

The other part of the plan to lock in power for the political left is to bring in all illegal aliens (IA) and make them citizens.  If the Democrats  make these poor, non-American, non-English speaking, and beholden people citizens, just how do you think they will vote?  Nancy Pelosi knows how they will vote that is why she has been all over the place pandering to them.  Let us not forget that she is trying to prevent the ICE officers from doing their jobs deporting those poor illegals.

Conservatives need to say “no” to political groups being involved in the census.  We also need to step up our grass roots movement.  While the Democratic left is much better funded by so called government grants, we are much more committed to our ideals.  If each of us will get involved we can find a way to return America to the American People.

Better Watch Out Joe…. Cheney knows where you live

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

When you read the some of the wagging that is going on between Bidden and Cheney you can only smile.  Image it””s in the afternoon, Biden has just screwed up another television interview (like yesterday when he didn””””t know the website address) the phone rings and it””s Cheney, “Hey Joe lets go bird hunting”.

While funny, it does bring up a interesting argument and points to one of the problems with the Bush administration calling themselves Republican.  Their stance doesnt really support state rights.  On the other hand, I don””””””””t believe the current adminstration recognizes that there are states.  Interesting!  Enjoy the article.

From Fox News

Vice President Cheney mocked Vice President-elect Joe Biden””””””””s grasp of the Constitution, defended former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and said President Bush “doesn””””””””t have to check with anybody” before launching a nuclear attack.

In a blunt, unapologetic interview on “FOX News Sunday,” Cheney fired back at Biden for declaring in October that “Vice President Cheney has been the most dangerous vice president we””””””””ve had probably in American history.”

“He also said that all the powers and responsibilities of the executive branch are laid out in Article I of the Constitution,” Cheney said in a interview that was conducted on Friday. “Well, they””””””””re not. Article I of the Constitution is the one on the legislative branch.”

“Joe””””””””s been chairman of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate for 36 years, teaches constitutional law back in Delaware, and can””””””””t keep straight which article of the Constitution provides for the legislature and which provides for the executive. So I think I””””””””d write that off as campaign rhetoric. I don””””””””t take it seriously.”

“His notion of a unitary executive, meaning that, in time of war, essentially all power, you know, goes to the executive, I think is dead wrong. I think it was mistaken. I think it caused this administration, in adopting that notion, to overstep its constitutional bounds, but, at a minimum, to weaken our standing in the world and weaken our security. I stand by that — that judgment,” Biden said..

Cheney defended the administration””””””””s aggressive prosecution of the War on Terror, which he said was a major reason the nation hasn””””””””t been attacked in seven years. He said the 1973 War Powers Act is a violation of the Constitution because Congress does not have the right by statute to alter presidential constitutional power.

“That it is an infringement on the president””””””””s authority as the commander-in-chief,” Cheney said. “It has never been resolved, but I think it””””””””s a very good example of a way in which Congress has tried to limit the president””””””””s authority and, frankly, can””””””””t.

“The president of the United States now for 50 years is followed at all times, 24 hours a day, by a military aide carrying a football that contains the nuclear codes that he would use and be authorized to use in the event of a nuclear attack on the United States,” Cheney said. “He could launch the kind of devastating attack the world has never seen.

“He doesn””””””””t have to check with anybody. He doesn””””””””t have to call the Congress. He doesn””””””””t have to check with the courts. He has that authority because of the nature of the world we live in.”

Cheney also made clear that he had tried, in vain, to convince Bush not to fire Rumsfeld in 2006.

“I did disagree with the decision,” Cheney said. “The president doesn””””””””t always take my advice.”

Cheney said he supports Rumsfeld””””””””s successor, Robert Gates, “but I was a Rumsfeld man. I””””””””d helped recruit him and I thought he did a good job for us.”

Cheney also was unapologetic about using an expletive in 2004 to tell Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy what to do to himself. The incident occurred after Cheney heard that Leahy had suggested the vice president used his position in the White House to get contracts for his former firm, Halliburton.

“I thought he merited it at the time, and we””””””””ve since, I think, patched over that wound and we””””””””re civil to one another now,” Cheney said in the interview.
