Obama’s Blackwater? Jeremy Scahill on Triple Canopy, the New Lead US Mercenary Force in Iraq and Israel

The Obama administration has confirmed it has hired the mercenary firm Triple Canopy to take over Blackwater’s contract to protect U.S. diplomats in Iraq. Part of the firm’s job will be to protect the “monstrous” U.S. embassy in Baghdad. Blackwater, now known as XE, lost its State Department contract in Iraq after the Iraqi government refused to grant the company a new license because of the Sept. 2007 Nusoor Square massacre when Blackwater guards killed 17 Iraqi civilians.

Meanwhile independent journalist Jeremy Scahill has just revealed that the Obama administration is also using Triple Canopy to protect U.S. diplomats in Israel.

The article starts off in an apologist manner by stating that Obama never ruled out using mercenaries in Iraq during his term as president. Well that may be true but his election team along with Hilary and the major news outlets had a hey day beating up the Bush administration for using them. I remember the night after night expose’ on Blackwater and how horrible they were. Jeremy Schaill who was still in a Bush bashing mode when he wrote this as he referred to Blackwater as thugs.
What does this all mean. Probably nothing in the grand scheme of things. I just think it’s pretty funny that the party apologist are at it hot and heavy. Oh, and this story was not picked up by any major media outlet….. Hmmm, you don’t think they were covering up?…….Nah
