Obama: Hasan May Have “Cracked From The Stress
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Well, look, we — we have seen, in the past, rampages of this sort. And in a country of 300 million people, there are going to be acts of violence that are inexplicable. Even within the extraordinary military that we have — and I think everybody understands how outstanding the young men and women in uniform are under the most severe stress — there are going to be instances in which an individual cracks. I think the questions
that we’re asking now and we don’t have yet complete answers to is, is this an individual who’s acting in this way or is it some larger set of actors? You know, what are the motivations? Those are all questions that I think we have to ask ourselves. Until we have these answers buttoned down, I’d rather not comment on it.
Face Forward Comments:
Stress? For months this guy has been telling everyone he hated American and would not fight for our country. He built a power Point Presentation on it for pete’s sake…..
Can’t comment on it my a**. We have a president that hates this country making excuses for the enemies that are attacking us.
Fort Hood Suspect Warned of Muslim Threat Within Military
The Army psychiatrist suspected of killing 13 people at Fort Hood reportedly warned senior Army physicians in 2007 that the military should allow Muslim soldiers to be released as conscientious objectors instead of fighting in wars to avoid “adverse events.”
According to The Washington Post, Major Nidal Malik Hasan was supposed to make a presentation on a medical topic during his senior year as a psychiatric resident at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Answers Sought On Fort Hood Suspect’s Link To Imam
The FBI knew that alleged Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had communicated with a radical imam nearly a year before the attack but determined the Army psychiatrist was no threat, officials said.
The report comes as Fort Hood prepared to hold a memorial service honor the 13 people who died and the 29 wounded during Thursday’s shooting rampage at the Texas base. President Obama and the first lady were scheduled to attend the two-hour memorial, which NPR will carry live beginning at 2 p.m. EST.
Hasan, the only suspect in the attack, was shot by civilian police and remains hospitalized under guard in San Antonio. The 39-year-oldArmy psychiatrist is reportedly awake and talking to doctors and has met with his lawyer.

UPDATE
WASHINGTON U.S. intelligence agencies learned an Army psychiatrist contacted an Islamist sympathetic to al Qaeda and they relayed the information to authorities before the man allegedly went on a shooting spree that killed 13 people in Texas last week, U.S. officials said on Monday.
While the agencies were monitoring contacts by Anwar al-Awlaki, a fiery, anti-American cleric in Yemen who sympathized with al Qaeda, they came across some communications late last year with the shooting suspect, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, U.S. government officials said.
They said the information was given to federal authorities who determined that Hasan’s writings were largely consistent with his academic work, offering no hint that he was planning an attack or was following orders from anyone
